Project Properties/Project Info Page in AOC Tools

The Project Properties and Project Info pages in AOC Tools allow you to manage and update all essential details of your selected project. While "Project Properties" focuses on the core settings that define your operation, "Project Info" is dedicated to detailed, coalition-specific documentation.

To access these pages, you must first have an active project selected in AOC Tools. Once a project is open, navigate to the "Project Info" or "Project Properties" section, typically found in the main navigation or sidebar.

Project Properties: Managing Core Project Settings

This section allows you to define and adjust the fundamental parameters of your project. These settings are common to all coalitions and lay the groundwork for your entire operation. It is divided into "Generic Properties" and "Tactical Options".

Generic Properties

  • Project Name: The primary identifier for your operation or campaign. Choose a clear and descriptive name that reflects the nature of your project.
  • Project Time Zone: Select the time zone for the project. Options typically include:
    • Z (UTC): Coordinated Universal Time.
    • J (Local Time/Sim Time): Local time or simulator time, depending on configuration.
  • Set project visible in Mission Planner: Controls the visibility of your project within the Mission Planner interface.
    • Not visible in Mission Planner: The project will not appear in the list for other users.
    • Visible in Mission Planner: The project will be discoverable by other users.
  • Set miz file available for download from Mission Planner: Determines if the associated DCS World .miz mission file can be downloaded directly from the Mission Planner.
    • Not available in Mission Planner: The .miz file cannot be downloaded.
    • Available in Mission Planner: The .miz file can be downloaded by users with appropriate permissions.

Admin-Only Settings (within Generic Properties)

These settings offer granular control over project access and permissions, and can only be set by AOC Admins.

  • Blue Coalition Password: Set a password specifically for the Blue Coalition to access coalition-restricted project data.
  • Red Coalition Password: Set a password specifically for the Red Coalition to access coalition-restricted project data.
  • Mission Planner Permissions: Defines who can access the Mission Planner for this project.
    • Host Group Members + Operation Registered Users, no coalition restrictions: A broader access level.
    • Operation Registered Users only, coalition restricted: More restrictive, requiring users to be registered for the operation and adhere to coalition rules.
  • Airspace Control Permissions: Controls access to Airspace Control functionalities.
    • Host Group Members + Operation Registered Users, no coalition restrictions: Broad access.
    • Operation Registered Users only, coalition restricted: Restricted to registered users within their coalition.
    • Operation Registered Users only, coalition and role restricted (ATC/AWAC only): Most restrictive, limited to specific roles within a coalition. (Note: This setting requires Airspace Server permissions to be set to "AOC Project related").
  • Mission AOC Tools Permissions: Manages permissions for general AOC Tools functionalities related to the mission.
    • AOC members, no coalition restrictions: Broader access for AOC members.
    • Operation Registered AOC members only, coalition restricted: Restricted to registered AOC members within their coalition.

Tactical Options

This section allows you to link Joint Integrated Prioritized Target Lists (JIPTLs) to your project and control their display.

  • Blue JIPTL: Select a specific JIPTL from a dropdown list to associate it with the Blue Coalition. This list is populated from your existing custom target lists for the project's group and coalition.
  • Red JIPTL: Select a specific JIPTL from a dropdown list to associate it with the Red Coalition. This list is populated from your existing custom target lists for the project's group and coalition.
  • JIPTL on Mission planner: Controls how JIPTL targets are displayed on the Mission Planner map for both Blue and Red coalitions.
    • Show selected targets only: Only targets explicitly selected from the JIPTL will be visible.
    • Show all JIPTL targets: All targets from the linked JIPTLs will be displayed.

Project Info: Documenting Project Details and Coalition-Specific Information

The "Project Info" section is designed for comprehensive documentation, covering both general project details that apply to all participants and specific information tailored to each coalition (Blue or Red).

  • General Info (Common to All Coalitions): This rich-text field is for overarching project details that are relevant to all groups and coalitions involved. This might include:
    • General briefings or introductory texts about the operation.
    • Common rules of engagement or operational guidelines that apply universally.
    • Information on how different groups will interact or coordinate.
    • Any other general notes that set the stage for the entire project.
  • General Info (Coalition Only): This is a dedicated, rich-text field where you can enter extensive information relevant only to the currently selected coalition. This allows you to provide distinct objectives, rules, and intelligence briefs for each side of the conflict. This might include:
    • Specific mission objectives or tasks for the coalition.
    • Operational guidelines, procedures, or restrictions unique to that side.
    • Detailed intelligence briefs, threat assessments, or friendly force dispositions.
    • Any other notes or directives that differentiate the coalition's operations and planning.

To view or edit the "General Info (Coalition Only)" for a different coalition, you must first select that coalition from the main project interface (e.g., a coalition selector in the header). The content displayed in this specific text area will dynamically change based on your selected coalition, ensuring you are always working with the relevant information.

Saving Your Changes

After making any modifications to either the Project Properties or Project Info sections, it is crucial to save your changes to ensure they are applied and stored within the system:

  1. Locate the "Save" or "Submit" button: This button is typically found at the bottom of the form sections after you have made your edits.
  2. Click the button: Clicking this button will submit your changes to the system for processing.
  3. Confirmation: Upon successful saving, the system will usually provide a confirmation message (e.g., "Project updated!"). You might then be redirected back to the project dashboard or remain on the same page.

Regularly saving your work ensures that all planning and operational details are up-to-date and accessible to your virtual flight group, maintaining consistency and accuracy across your operations.
