DCS Airspace Realism and Display Settings
DCS Airspace provides configurable realism and display settings that allow server administrators to adapt the airspace workstation to different operational requirements, from simplified training environments to more realistic air traffic control and tactical identification scenarios. These settings control contact identification, automatic tactical picture generation, station selection, map interaction, and the display of player information.
Identification Realism
The Identification Realism Level setting determines how contact identification is handled by DCS Airspace. Administrators can choose between Realistic Identification, which uses the Combined Ops identification logic, and DCS World Identification, which follows the identification information provided by DCS World. Realistic Identification requires Combined Ops Link.
Additional settings control whether friendly AI air units are identified by default when Realistic Identification is enabled. These options allow server administrators to configure the initial identification state of friendly AI aircraft according to the desired level of realism.
For details about identification logic, IFF, and contact identification behavior, see the DCS Airspace Contacts and IFF Identification Logic documentation.
Auto PICTURE
The Auto PICTURE setting enables or disables automatic PICTURE generation. When enabled, DCS Airspace can automatically generate a tactical picture of relevant air contacts, supporting controller situational awareness without requiring every picture to be initiated manually. Server administrators can disable this feature when automatic picture generation is not required for their operational environment.
Station Access and Map Interaction
DCS Airspace includes settings that control if stations can be selected to enter the map and how users can switch between stations directly from the airspace display.
- Allow No Position Stations: Determines whether stations without an actual geographic position on the map can access the map interface. This setting also affects how SRS calculates line of sight (LOS).
- Allow In Map Position Change: Determines whether users can switch stations directly from the map. This setting also affects how SRS calculates line of sight (LOS).
Player Information Display
The Show DCS World Player Name setting determines whether player names from DCS World are displayed in the DCS Airspace interface. Administrators can enable or disable player name visibility according to their server configuration and operational preferences.
DCS Airspace Access Permissions and Project Settings
DCS Airspace supports configurable server access permissions, allowing virtual squadrons to manage who can connect to an airspace server and, when required, restrict access according to operation registration, coalition, and controller role.
Server Permissions
The Server Permissions setting allows administrators to control access to a DCS Airspace server, from public access to restricted environments based on host group membership or operation-specific requirements. When linked to a DCS AOC Tools Project, additional restrictions can be configured according to operation registration, coalition, and controller role.
For a detailed explanation of the available access modes and configuration options, see the DCS Airspace Permissions System documentation.
AOC Tools Project Reference
The Ref. AOC Tools Project setting links the DCS Airspace server to a DCS AOC Tools project. Only projects belonging to the user's groups and with an operation date on or after the current date are available for selection. Linking a project enables project-related access control and connects DCS Airspace to the operational planning data associated with that project.
