Project Properties in AOC Tools
The Project Properties page in AOC Tools allows project administrators to configure the core settings, access permissions, Mission Planner visibility, and tactical data associated with an active project.
The available options are divided into two main sections: Generic Properties and Tactical Options. Some settings are restricted to AOC Administrators.
Generic Properties
The Generic Properties section contains the fundamental settings that define how the project is identified, displayed, and accessed.
Project Name
The Project Name is the primary identifier of the project. Use a clear and descriptive name that allows users to easily recognize the associated operation, mission, or campaign.
Project Time Zone
The Project Time Zone determines the time reference used by the project. Two options are available:
- Z (UTC): Uses Coordinated Universal Time.
- J (Local Time/Sim Time): Uses local or simulator time according to the project configuration.
Mission Planner Visibility
The Set project visible in Mission Planner option controls whether the project is published in the DCS Mission Planner.
- Not visible in Mission Planner: The project is not displayed in the Mission Planner project list.
- Visible in Mission Planner: The project can be discovered through the Mission Planner by users who have the required permissions.
Mission File Download
The Set miz file available for download from Mission Planner option controls whether the project's associated DCS World .miz mission file can be downloaded through the Mission Planner.
- Not available in Mission Planner: The
.mizfile cannot be downloaded through the Mission Planner. - Available in Mission Planner: The
.mizfile can be downloaded by users who have the required project permissions.
Administrator Settings
Additional project settings are available only to users with AOC Administrator permissions. These settings control coalition access and permissions for the different Combined Ops components associated with the project.
Coalition Passwords
AOC Administrators can configure separate passwords for the two coalitions:
- Blue Coalition Password: Password used to control access to Blue Coalition project data where applicable.
- Red Coalition Password: Password used to control access to Red Coalition project data where applicable.
Using separate coalition credentials allows project administrators to maintain appropriate separation between Blue and Red operational information.
Mission Planner Permissions
The Mission Planner Permissions setting controls which users can access the project's Mission Planner data.
- Host Group Members + Operation Registered Users, no coalition restrictions: Allows access to host group members and users registered for the operation without applying coalition restrictions.
- Operation Registered Users only, coalition restricted: Restricts access to users registered for the operation and applies the configured coalition restrictions.
Airspace Control Permissions
The Airspace Control Permissions setting determines which users can access the project's Airspace Control functionality.
- Host Group Members + Operation Registered Users, no coalition restrictions: Provides broad access to eligible host group members and operation-registered users.
- Operation Registered Users only, coalition restricted: Limits access to operation-registered users and applies coalition restrictions.
- Operation Registered Users only, coalition and role restricted (ATC/AWAC only): Restricts access to operation-registered users belonging to the appropriate coalition and having an ATC or AWAC role.
The most restrictive ATC/AWAC option requires the corresponding Airspace Server permissions to be configured as AOC Project related.
Mission AOC Tools Permissions
The Mission AOC Tools Permissions setting controls access to the project's AOC Tools functionality.
- AOC members, no coalition restrictions: Allows AOC members to access the project without coalition restrictions.
- Operation Registered AOC members only, coalition restricted: Restricts access to AOC members who are registered for the operation and applies coalition restrictions.
Tactical Options
The Tactical Options section allows project administrators to associate Joint Integrated Prioritized Target Lists (JIPTLs) with the project and control how their targets are displayed in the Mission Planner.
Blue JIPTL
The Blue JIPTL option allows you to associate an existing custom target list with the Blue Coalition.
The available lists are taken from the project's group and are filtered for the Blue Coalition. You can also select None/Not Available if no JIPTL should be associated with the coalition.
Red JIPTL
The Red JIPTL option allows you to associate an existing custom target list with the Red Coalition.
The available lists are taken from the project's group and are filtered for the Red Coalition. You can select None/Not Available if no JIPTL should be associated with the coalition.
JIPTL on Mission Planner
The JIPTL on Mission Planner option controls how targets from the project's Blue and Red JIPTLs are displayed on the Mission Planner map.
- Show selected targets only: Displays only the targets specifically selected from the JIPTL.
- Show all JIPTL targets: Displays all targets contained in the associated JIPTL.
This setting applies to both Blue and Red coalitions.
Saving Project Properties
Each project property is managed through its corresponding form. After changing a setting, click the associated Save button to apply the modification.
When the update is successfully processed, AOC Tools displays a confirmation message indicating that the Project was updated. If the user does not have sufficient permissions for a restricted setting, the system will reject the change.
Project Properties should be reviewed whenever the access model, Mission Planner availability, Airspace permissions, or tactical target configuration of an operation changes. Correctly configuring these settings ensures that each project exposes the appropriate information and functionality to its participants.
