Reconnaissance Missions: RECCEDAT and PTRCPLOT DCS World Mission Editing

Reconnaissance missions in DCS World should be configured similarly to other missions that do not have a specific ground target. To provide the required reconnaissance information in the Air Tasking Order (ATO), configure a waypoint action with an Orbit over the reconnaissance target area.

The orbit can be configured as either a Circle or a Race-Track. If a Race-Track orbit is used, the waypoint action must be configured on the first waypoint of the orbit.

When correctly configured, DCS AOC Tools extracts the reconnaissance information from the DCS World mission file and generates both a RECCEDAT line and a PTRCPLOT line in the ATO.

A reconnaissance mission can produce RECCEDAT data such as:

RECCEDAT/P/PRI:2/010700ZOCT/NET:010645ZOCT/NLT:010715Z/LTIOV:011345ZOCT1998/FLR/PINPT/FL/IMQ:V/CM:C/C/ANA/-/12/12-1//

The associated reconnaissance target or plot can be represented by a PTRCPLOT line such as:

PTRCPLOT/LATS:300105N0803428W/NAME:BLUE RIVER BRIDGE/RAD:1NM/150FT/WE//
